Ok so I know there have been many similar threads recently but due to the potential lease of my Alfa 4C falling through I need to look for something else before my Scirroco R goes back in November.

Option 1 is to buy an early e92 M3 DCT for circa 20k which gets me a 09/10 with about 50k on the clock.

Second option is a 2 year lease on an S4 works about £2,700 deposit and £310 a month.

3rd option is something a little crazy share my wife's Mazda 2 for a year or two and save an extra 10K, enough to buy a 30k ish V8 Vatage.

Am I missing anything? I don't commute in the car and do less than 5k a year so I fancy something a little special, if I do purchase something I'd prefer minimum depreciation (wouldn't everyone ha). Heart says buy a TVR Cerb or Tuscan as I love them but despite my dad being in the trade constant problems will drive me nuts and I'm not great with the tools.

Any advice from owners or other suggestions very welcome. Cheers Stu.

the last option, it has a V8 and is an Aston.

If not option 1, it will still be worth something in a few years time.

That's what the heart says but the head says it's too expensive for me.

Would love a Vantage myself but I'd also need to save quite a bit and, after that, running and maintenance costs would be a major concern.

Quite like the thought of a Lexus IS-F too - for its naturally aspirated 5.0 V8, bulletproof reliability and ability to purchase an extended manufacturer guarantee complete woth breakdown cover for only £900 for two years (as long as you purchase before its 10 years old and reaches 140,000 miles).

My thoughts exactly I did consider the IS-F and a C63 but having driven all 3 I preferred the M although the Lexus was great it looked a little dull imo.

I still keep telling myself I'm dreaming over the Aston and I can't afford it.

Agreed that they look amazing but I dont think I'd go for one without having first saved a few thousand maintenance fund on top of purchase cost.

Personally, I'm waiting on that Alfa 4C lease and, assuming it works out, will likely go for a Lexus RC-F after the 2 years.

Yea lovely but won't the V12 be even more ruinous to my bank balance

Agreed hence saving for a year if I do decide on the V8V. I could jump into one now with a 10K loan but I'd prefer to save a bit more to include a slush fund should anything go wrong.

I think I’d rather something a tad newer like the V8V I didn’t realize DB9s could be had for sub 30k but they scare me even more

Why so?
Aspirational car
There is a floor on the price for these.
Buy the lowest priced one possible - enjoy.
Doesn’t really matter if it’s the lower cc engine you’ll have a great time.

Purely aesthetics I'm 32 and this just looks a bit too old for me I think
