Attended the annual Porsche sale at Silverstone yesterday, and found the market subdued to say the least, a lot of nice cars but both the sale room and the net bidding well below low estimate in the catalogue.
even the star car a 993 Turbo S sold at £215,000 with the low estimate at £245,000.
930 Turbos have flattened out also and 993s especially tiptronics are struggling at around £35k, mind you there were one or two bargains and rare or exceptional cars did do well.

Always seems like an odd time of the year for a major sale - Silverstone on a bleak Sunday in early winter?

Do the prices include Buyers Premium?

£48k for a 993 'Tiptronic' 'Targa' seems quite good.

I’ve attended 2 high profile auctions over the past couple of months and 99% of sales have been at, or below, lower end of estimate. I looked at Silverstone results and could only see one decent deal - the white 944S2 Coupe. There’s at least £3k in that on the open market. What other cars do people think represented good vfm?

I honestly have no idea why anyone would buy a tiptronic ? It's not exactly like they were well regarded at the time. I'd imagine the value of manual and tiptronic cars will continue to widen.

Yes, and the 993 Targa always looks 'wrong' to my eyes. But it was lowish mls.

Mate of mine has a 993 Targa (thankfully manual) which needs a re-spray...he's been put off because the body shop won't give a fixed quote because to do it properly the Targa roof needs to come out...and from their experience it's more "art than science" getting it back in and will require new rubber seals etc and likely other unforseen replacement parts. The roof was adding "likely to be a few thousand" to the cost of the re-spray....

How is that subdued for a awefull driving turbo s,thats a good price. The uk auctions are not the place to set the market values really,a lot of estimates are set to high.Proper rare cars still very strong.

Prices seem reasonable. They may be below estimate, but hey. Looking at the 996 GT2 the engine bay looks filthy, and the car has not had a polish, like a number of the other cars. How can a fancy car be submitted for a high profile 'international' auction and the vendor not have the good grace to at least give the car a £500 detail - or any kind of detail for that matter? Sign of slovenliness, in my opinion. Not sold.

993 Turbo S no thanks. 964 3.3 turbo S yes please. I agree average cars not exciting but good rare stuff still commands the big money which is good to know

Was it this GT2? Perhaps Richard Tipper gave it £250 clean
