Placed deposit 10 days ago & Still Awaiting allocation

I placed a deposit on a new E63s ten days ago and am still yet to be informed of the build date, and whether I will take delivery on my preferred date (March 1st 2018).

According to the Mercedes dealership: "Your order is in a queue, there was a backlog but since a week ago it has been sorted and just waiting on allocation."

Is this typical on a new build Mercedes?

Indifference and misinformation. Sounds about right based on my experience thus far.

I think it took nearly 3 months to NOT get a confirmation date on my car back in 2013. In the end I took matters into my own hands and used the old boy network to get a build slot and have the car delivered for my target date.

They'll be waiting on allocation by the factory, until the factory confirm that the dealership will be just as much in the dark as you.

Good choice of car though!

Do you know how long this process typically takes? I’m getting slightly twitchy due to the supposed shortages of the 4 litre engine.

We're still waiting to be told our January allocation, so until the dealer knows that they can't come back to you. If for example they only get 1 build slot in January and you're the second order they you may wait another month until February builds are confirmed.
