Clutch fluid reservoir
Discussion
Aha thanks. I thought that was a suspension strut cover.
Sorry for terse posting but am frustrated by odd clutch symptoms. So just ran the car for a few miles and they've manifested into more substantial ones.
The clutch pedal is smooth and fine when the engine is off. As soon as the engine is running the pedal feels notchy and grainy. There sometimes a screeching (well it is softer than screeching, more of a letting-off-steam type screech) noise and there's started to be some intermittent clutch judder, particularly when hot.
I'll go and have a look to see if I'm losing fluid. None in the driver's well but various fluid spots on garage floor (hard to know what they are when they're mixed with general garage floor gubbins).
Whatever - looks like I've contracted the epidemic and can now join the CFC.

Hmmmmmm strange......
mine started to do that just before it packed up all together with broken fingers, first it was the whining noise from the release bearing then hard to get in gear and the judder then nothing!!
Lets hope yours is an easy fix, il keep my fingers crossed for you.

Does the cerb have a clutch pedal foot rest?
Maybe you're confusing the two Angus
When I first bought the car the clutch felt so stiff I thought it was knackered then. That was until I checked out the footwell and founf the pedal jammed up with that special loose-fitting carpet that TVR seem so capable at fitting

Angus,
Separate theory, could you be picking up some mild exhaust vibes through the clutch pedal? I only mention because I'm sorting out a similar issue with mine at the moment and the close proximity of the pipes and chassis was mentioned.
Steve.

This was my first thought. Car was decatted about 4 weeks ago and since then a U bolt has come away from the offside exhaust pipe.
But after hearing it making horrendous noises last night - all related to the length of depression of the pedal I think there's no doubt.
It is clutch and it is terminal.

Bad luck fella....., Oh and welcome to the club
Thank you
The good news is that the Green Flag's response to asking for them to lowload it 60 miles to Dave Batty's was "no problem!"
And the warranty company's reponse to my request to completely replace the whole clutch system was "no problem".
Even Direct Line, through which I have the recovery cover said, when we all realised I forgot to renew it in January, "no problem, we'll just start the cover now!"
Fekcinell! What's going to go wrong to counter all this good will?
