Hi Guy's,

When I try to open a link in a thread (for example link to an external site) explorer seems to hang, wait a minute, go blank and then return to the page I've just tried to link from.

Is this a site problem or an IE problem??

Edited to Add Think it might be an IE problem as if I try and open a link (from any site!) in a seperate window it does the same and hangs - any ideas??

Cheers

Chris

copy this link and paste into the address bar:

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=167037&f=95&h=0

explains what the problem is, and links to solutions..

There is also this one:

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=167037&f=95&h=0

which links to the solution I used, which is here:
www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/My_computer_and_39_s_log-tx14705-0.html#entry90400

but be careful with the tools you download, as they can do a lot of damage if you delete the wrong thing!

Cheers Fidgits!

That seems to have sorted it (disabled req.dat).
Does anyone have any info on what this file does?? I'm running upto date anti-virus etc (norton internet security) and have all the latest updates etc - is this some form of malicious crap??

Cheers

Cheers for the info.

How can I delete it? I've tried looking for a file called req.dat but can't find it? - is this because I've disabled it? or does it have another name or something??

And also why didn't my AV/Firewall pick this up??

Sorry for all the questions.

Cheers
