eBay descriptions
Discussion
I have put my Suzuki up on eBay and today I noticed another one has been listed but the thing is they have copied my description word for word.
I can tell its mine for 2 reasons, first the fonts and secondly the wording (i put that it has chrome side steps/rear bar) and they also have pics up which clearly show it doesnt have those.
Now - do I contact that seller and ask them to remove the wording to their own or not?

I would make them look like a fool ! They have in effect stolen your work, not a problem if you had already sold your car but they are your rivals for bidders.
Would be interested to hear how you get on with ebay, I recently found it to be a waste of time, still next time I know to add the following to my description "note: ebay is an auction site and not a charity system for transfering classic Mercedes cars to council estates at several thousand pounds below market value". Just a thought that would have saved a lot of time
.
Cheers

They have even copied my starting bid and taken the same photos apart from 1.
If you have hosted your own pictures (rather than upload them to eBay) you could change the pictures on your hosting server to something derogatory....
You change your own listing so that the pics come out okay, but on the scammers listing the pics would show your "modified" pictures.
Obviously only works in some cases mind.....

The one I saw was for DVD's of something (May have been Lord Of The Rings) and the guy who created the original listing went to a lot of trouble, and used about twenty screen grabs from the film.
Once someone had stolen his HTML listing, and used the URL's for his pictures, he changed the pictures to say things like "STOP STEALING ME PICS" and "YOU THIEVING W****R" etc etc
Very, very funny.
