Hi Millard

Are you talking about the spark module?..the square alloy box that connects to the distributor?

As far as I know all the Euro Ford units (square box as Zig's link)) are the same, across all engines.

I'm also reasonably sure the boxes are actually the same as the USA units including V8 engines as well, and have the same plugs.

It's just the 'driver' for the contactless pickup in the dizzy.

In Europe there was also a Bosch option, with matched Bosch dizzy and smaller ribbed box 'driver' to match (and different connectors), which were interchangeable (as a pair) with the Motorcraft items. (just in case you see any alternate setups)

We do know on this forum that the US TVRs had a different safety module for the fuel pump, as reqd by US regulations. That's where us Poms can't help much ....

Thanks for the replies. The PO said I could purchase a "spark" module for a 2.8l v6 Mustang II. I purchased one from Rockauto and the violet/purple and black wire are reversed at the connector. I'm assuming I could rewire these to match but wasn't sure about the internal wiring so I'm reluctant to do so.

Try a Ford breaker its the same Duraspark part as the 2.8i Capri try http://www.tickover.co.uk you can also use an 80's Honda ignition module its also a fraction of the size tried and tested by moi cool about as big as a matchbox a small amount of wiring required and works perfectly inc Tacho

Its only a constant energy design (popular in the 80's) if you cant get the Ford unit there are loads of options to get you going again, hope you find the right unit however

Info - In case it helps any,

The pickup in the distributor is simply magnet(s) and coil, so anything with the same pickup should work.

The Mustang one won't get damaged if pickup wires are reversed compared to Euro Ford unit, it just won't fire in the right spot.
Aftermarket high efficiency ones should also work if set for coil and magnet option.
