We are hoping to tour Italy on the bike this year, time is a premium so does anyone know a website for advice on getting the train/boat part of the way to save time, or should we just blat all the way!!!

If you're planning on doing the north anyway then just blat it, get the slog out the way on the french motorways.
If you are staying south then what he says ^^^

you could always do the Plymouth-> Santander or Bilbao ferry crossing that takes a large chunk of the shite roads out, dumping you on the edge of the Pyrenees - perhaps a better route to Italy from there than from Le Havre??
