Does such a car exist?
Discussion
I’m looking for a second car to sit on the drive year round. Realistically it will do 1-2k miles a year. But here’s the kicker it must be a 1977 year or earlier to avoid unnecessary spendage to HMGOV.
With the 40+ year rule coming in for MOT’s and the VED exempt rule does such a car exist that doesn’t need to be garaged (ie won’t turn into a pile of rust)?
Say £10k max spend?

No car likes to be sitting outside, neglected and exposed to the elements. It wouldn't do a modern (Y2K+) car any good let alone a 1970s car with their tendency to corrosion and so on. You might get away with it in a dry climate but sitting outdoors for long periods in the UK is the kiss of death for a car.
Yeah that’s basically what I had thought but just wanted to check pistonheads didn’t have some bright spark with a good suggestion.
I used to have a SL 300 under a car port at my old house and was only half comfortable with that situation (although someone told me they like the air circulation of that set up anyway)
Unfortunately the people we bought the house off converted the garage.
So next question-what’s the most fun zero tax car for 10k (that can be left outside obviously)?

No garages in the village unfortunately.
Hmm car club is interesting idea although my initial idea was to not have much outlay per year - are they such things as budget car clubs? Having only done 1k miles in my previous second car the year before I sold it I’m wholly realistic about how many times you actually get to use one.
Again over the course of a few years the ved adds up, hence wanting zero tax.
I have an EV currently for work so want an antidote car.
I’m not sure a green goddess will be much fun on a B-road, it will be interesting no doubt!
I think I just hoped someone would say something like “Yes I keep my ‘X’ outside all year and it’s fine”
