And it might be of interest if I can do the man-maths.

I like the style and at 41 mm that would probably suit, too. I know they normally come on a steel bracelet but I like the leather.

It seems to be one of the cheaper ones around.

Anyone know the dealer?

It's described as Condition 1 (mint) but there are clear scratches on the case. Now I do know it's a 70s watch but if it's mint I'd expect it to be in virtually unworn condition, or does the view of mint vary depend on age?

I thought the Omegas of this age were hand wound but this says it's an an auto, am I wrong, I'm certainly no expert.
No mention of a service, papers or box.
Any thoughts please? Any questions I should ask the dealer?

Sorry, can't help other than to say it's naughty to describe that as mint. There will be others.

I’ve seen them around this price in much better condition. I’d keep an eye out as there will be others in better state.

Hardly mint. Neither can you expect such a watch to be brand new. Wear and tear etc.

As others have said that case is ruined, also the hands don’t match the dial. The case on this should a really nice brushed sunburst finish, not be shiny.

eBay has a few decent looking ones from uk sellers at the moment. Chrononext have one that does not look over polished, but the photos are not great, they also have a £100 off voucher in the Esquire watch mag at the moment.

If don't expect a watch of this age to be mint and do expect wear and tear, but then I wouldn't expect it to be described as condition 1 either.

In contrast, this watch appears to be in better condition for just £100 more, and has an original bracelet (although I actually like the leather strap,of the first one), papers and has been serviced.

I haven't had a hand wound watch since I was probably about 10 years old - is this an issue for a watch that probably will only be worm once a week?

Most mechanicals, hand wind or automatic have a power reserve of around 36 hours. Some go to 48 hours (and a select few 8 days, but those are rare.)

So if you only wear a mechanical watch once a week, you'll be setting the date and hand winding it every time you put it on.
It's no issue from the watches perspective, is that an issue for you?

Or just get into the routine of winding it every couple of days.

It's not particularly an issue for me, and have an auto already ( Christopher Ward). In fact, getting in to the routine of hand winding every day or so may be easier.

Can they be over wound?

Yes - stop winding as soon as it begins to tighten up.

I prefer hand wound, it's just a habit now to turn the crown each morning (it's like feeding a tamagochi) and you'll soon get the feel for the wound state. The reserve is around 36 hours, so there's a bit of leeway for a late morning. It is possible to get longer reserves, but this appears to come with the need for a larger watch, and mid-30s cases fit my puny wrists far better than do larger ones.
