I remember posting in here about 3 years ago feeling pretty much at rock bottom.

At 7.30 am this morning I got a phone call from the lady at the Dvla who has been helping me this past year to tell me that my LGV licences are being reinstated, and I can begin my claim for compensation.

I hugged my Mrs, went and sat in the garden and cried.

3 fking years of some, (for me) monumental ups and downs, mainly downs but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I won, it's still sinking in.
Think I've learned some very valuable lessons along the way.

Odd post maybe, but I know a few on here will be interested in the outcome.

Never, ever give up.

Great news mate.

It should never have happened, but glad it's all sorted, and ended well.

Have been following your experience. I hate it when unaccountable faceless organisations greatly affect people's lives through incompetence and inertia. I am glad to hear of your success, and hope that you find suitable redress.

Good news. Fighting them is near impossible.

It took 9 months for them to work out they put someone else onto my licence and take some responsibility, I couldn't drive for that time as technically I had no licence and in the end had to redo my test as they could only find a digital copy of my test pass not the paper one.

Its full of employees who follow a set process and don't make any decisions. Anything out the ordinary your screwed.

Ah the DVLA, the natural resting place of the useless tt.

Tried to register a Japanese import Honda CRX Del Sol years ago.

Got a registration document back that said, Toyota Carina XL Diesel (type of fuel listed as petrol) The colour was right though. rolleyes

Neil, that's brilliant news! woohoo

Justice. At long last.

The mind boggles at the totally inept way the beaureaucratic authoritarian faceless unanswerable twunts at the department that is the DVLA/DMG operate. bangheadcurseranting

I have followed your sad tale here on PH and it made me aggrieved, frustrated and angry that they can treat people in such a cold, unfeeling and unreasonable manner, with no regard to the effect on the lives of the individuals and their families. Goodness knows how you must have felt all through this lengthy saga.

I can't believe that even after the Parliamentary Ombudsman found in your favour that it has still taken them just short of a whole year for them to grant you back your licence. WTF???

I wish you all the very best for the future. You deserve it for your sheer perseverance. bow
Onwards and upwards mate! thumbup

Wouldn't it be great if somebody in power could revamp the whole process to make it fairer, speedier and more proactive? judge

You're not the only one. My mate had held a full licence for around 15 years and then he started a new job where he had to present his licence to be able to drive the company vehicles. At that time he was doing a load of house renovations and everything was boxed up in storage so he couldn't find it. Requested a replacement from the Dvla and was advised he didn't have a licence. Took over six months to sort, they finally found the pass certificate from the test centre but as they couldn't find the associated paperwork they refused to accept he had a licence. He too had to retake his test and start all over again losing his new job in the process.

Bunch of useless idiots who never admit any wrong doing.

This is good news.

I'd never encourage it but I'd be tempted to sue for all you've been through. If thats even possible. DVLA have failed you in so many ways. But it's incredible to hear you have won.

Congratulations!

Great news, a frustrating time is at an end and you can be master of your own destiny once more. That's cheered me up on an otherwise miserable day.

I followed your other thread(s) but never knew what to say tbh.

Glad it's, finally, seen a resolution and hopefully you can get adequately compensated for the last 3 years of general st they put you through during that time.

Excellent news. I am very pleased for you.

Are you still doing the chauffeur job in the Bentayga? How has that worked out?

Best wishes.
