After hunting around for a ‘sensibly quick’ family car with 4/5 doors which isn't a diesel, just ordered a 440i GC.

This’ll be my first beemer (not counting the Mini) so thought I’d say hi in the sub-forum. Build slot is mid November so I’m hoping it arrives before Christmas. Now the long wait begins!

Congrats Matt. Great choice. Hope you don't mind me asking; how on earth did you get one so quick? I ordered my 440i in May and I'm still waiting. Latest update is mid-November build, delivery first week in December!!

On initial enquiry dealer had a build slot going, whether it was a cancellation or what I’m not sure, but like yourself mid November build December delivery hopefully!

Been agonising over the spec, still can change if needed. What did you go for?

Mine’s Snapper Rocks blue with ivory white interior, M sport plus pack, Adaptive LEDs, Adaptive cruise, Adaptive dampers, reversing cam, comfort pack, few other bits. Debating weather to ditch apple car play as seems a bit surplus to requirements, haven’t specced HUD but debating that one too.

The good thing is MPPK is dealer retrofit, so I figured I’d see how I went before deciding if I needed a bit more power and ‘song’ smile. Plus the stock exhaust is quite tuneful as it is!

Nice going. There's a Snapper Rocks car in my village and it looks superb. I went for Tanzanite Blue, Opal White Merino leather, M Sport plus pack, piano black trim, HUD and electric folding mirrors, not much else as I recall. Really looking forward to getting behind the wheel.

Very nice, sounds like you specced a few Individual options which is why it’s taking a bit of time, but it’ll look damn good!

Any news on your order yet Steve? I had the email this week that it’s all built, hoping to get it this side of Christmas but looks like it’s going to be tight. Itching to get my hands on it!

Hi Matt. Funnily enough I received an email this morning saying my car was at the port in the UK awaiting despatch to dealer, so I guess it'll arrive early next week. Like you, I can't wait to get my hands on it. Feels like it's been a very long wait. Just wondering whether it might be prudent to delay registering it until 1st January 2018. Come resale time I guess that might not do any harm. Or maybe I'm just being silly. All contributions/advice on that point would be most welcome! smile

Plate change is March so you will still have a 17 suffix.

Get it registered and drive it.

Fantastic, sounds like you’ll be ahead of me, fair though as you’ve been waiting longer! Where you picking it up from if you don’t mind me asking?

I think I’m with Scott though on this one, if delivery estimate was say 30th Dec I’d wait till Jan registration, but if next week I think I’ll be inclined to be behind the wheel rather than wait another month. I can’t imagine it would make masses of difference being a 2018 car on a 67 plate, might be worth looking at a couple of used examples though and see if there’s much of a difference?

Lovely purchases both - have pretty much decided I will be getting into a 440i next year, just need to decide on 2 door or 4 door.

Remember we need pics smile

Well, it was a long wait but it was very much worth it. I think it's a very handsome car. Have only driven 10 miles home from the dealership, but feels lovely and smooth. Tanzanite is a super colour. The upgraded Merino leather was worth it; really lifts the interior. I'm a happy boy!

Ha, yes indeed. I'm going to blame the salesman for that minor indiscretion! smile

Thanks Matt. Hope your car arrives soon.

Well after a couple of months of patience, and a few days extra getting a new car detail/paint correction, it's finally in my hands!
