hi, im a new Member from Spain to this Forum,

I currently own a Mercedes Ml350 w166

and looking forward to add a Sports car to my Garage,

i honestly dont want to spend more then 50k-55k euros as its only going to be a Weekend car
i dont think its going to be used on the track, it will just be for weekend mountain roads, etc
so Laptimes, or Faster by a few seconds isnt important,
just the Sports car and driving experience is what im looking for
in that budget in spain i have seen a few cars,
i know they cant be compared, they are different cars

i saw a audi r8 v8 -2008 with 60k kms

or i could get a Porsche Cayman S with 20ish K kms

after a list of cars like the 911 (prefered r8 for the looks)
i came down to these 2, for a few reasons,
always wanted something mid-engined,
i have heard good reviews for the servicing near me,

spending that much money what would you get?

Regards,

Yipper

Out of those two it would have to be the Cayman.

Yes of course Yipper, that well know mid engined two seat sports car - The Nissan GTR. Top advice.

OP you'd really have to try both and see which you preferred. The Cayman will feel significantly smaller on the road than the R8 because, well it's significantly smaller. Both are a good steer, the Cayman is slightly more practical if that matters. I prefer the noise of the R8 but again that would be subjective.

If both are in good order then either would make a decent second hand buy just do your research into any failings they might have which could be picked up on inspection.

I think the Cayman would be a fantastic car and arguably be less hassle to maintain being a much newer vehicle.

However, the residuals on the R8 will be MUCH better so would outweigh any additional servicing costs I would think.

I would go for an R8 at that price bracket I think.

Thanks for all the Responses....

Yea, GTR is no where near my Radar,

The only worry i have with the R8 is the horror story of owning a Nearly 10 Year Old Car, is that a worry with the R8 v8?

R8. Much more special. I don't think I'd worry too much about the age. There's plenty of them about and while they look exotic, maintenance costs are reasonable - even at a main dealer.

'Just' and RS4 engine so I would be pretty comfortable with it to be honest.

Engine is proven to do high miles so I wouldn't be worried about that. Clutch maybe something to look out for as I guess could be a big bill.

Other than that I think the R8 V8 is a use it without feeling guilty or worried type of 'super car'.

They look nicer outside but inside they look like a mk2 TT
