Symptoms would fit a misfire - perhaps moisture in the engine bay causing an ignition fault? Suggest you check the HT leads and things they connect to are clean and dry, and try again. If it's a persistent misfire you might have fouled the plug on the affected cylinder in which case you'll still have trouble after you have corrected the original fault - new plugs ought to get you back running properly.

Unfortunately the car is in chester and I live in Mansfield which is 100 miles away but I will be there on Thursday and I will change the spark plugs and check for damp as you have advised. Thanks for this Gassing Station | Home Mechanics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
