Trying to work out if it is eork paying for a manufacturers towbar or goto a third party tow bar company. What do you think

Just get a decent third party brand (Thule, Westfalia, Brink etc) fitted by a reputable local fitter.

Volvo wanted £600 plus, I got the same bar fitted for under £400.
