I've heard that if you download the BitTorrent client and have a look here, here, here, or here you might be able to read up about such things ...

This is very good. This one is good for US shows [or shows aired in the US]. The others are a bit hit-and-miss.

Sadly, the big BitTorrent sites are being systematically shut down. I'm not a big d/l but have noticed less availability.

I'm hoping someone will post a link on here that's better than the ones I've posted ...

I download 24 which is about 300mb files each, the day after the airing I get them in about 2.5hrs

Be warned though, when LokiTorrent went under the officials took all the log files & are currently studying them for trends and to decide who to prosecute. How that will work I'm not entirely sure - the site only lists the torrent file not the actual file itself.

As for Red Dwarf etc, most of the older shows you have to buy on DVD as the seeder's etc are about.

I use ABC ... works very well.

How long? Varies considerably, depending on the number of seeds. A d/l is currently at: 102.8 kB/s down, 23.6 kB/s up.

Plotloss: eMule, is that like eDonkey (which I have)?

But with Loki, didn't you actually have to sign up with a credit card to be a member, to then have access to the torrents? I tried to d/l there but was refused access. If so, might make the suit's job a bit easier.

Yep eMule is a prettier front end for eDonkey.

There are a few added features as well which are handy.

Much better than the standard eDonkey client, powered by the same network.

That I didn't know.

I actually know somone who uses a thing www.streamload.com where by he pays a small charge monthly by direct debit to gain access to the servers where he can download every illegal file you can imagine. I simply can't believe he would pay for it!

That's a strong allegation. How so? By members discussing downloads of TV programs they've missed?

even so, having paid for a tv license still doesn't allow you to be able to d/l tv series at the end of the day its still copy righted material.

Listen to Johnny 5 posts. The word Troll springs to mind. And a stupid one at that to start barking at a moderator, having just arrived.

Engage brain before posting springs to mind.

mr-white, you'll find that the BBC are actually postively encouraging the download of their shows, maybe not via BitTorrent or the like however. For example Horizon and Panorama episodes are currently getting archived to the BBC website so that users can download them. Talking about how to do it, isn't the same as saying "you should" etc.

Having said that, I've often thought that PH treads a thin line regarding the discussion of illegal wares. Still, as members we can only follow precedent and the rules Ted and his moderators set out for us

i think d/l tv episodes is a good idea, there was an article written about it on bit-tech. Its a shame the broadcasting companies don't come up with a way in which their shows can be d/l legally and still get credit for it.
