Good Morning,

I have an Oppo BDP 203 because there are only a few 4K players on the market. I have the B&W M1 5.1 package with the ASW10 sub for discreetness.

I now want to buy an AV receiver that can handle 4K from the Oppo. I have considered a 5 Channel power amp however I need more HDMI inputs than the Oppo offers. I also don't want a massive AV Receiver and I only need to power satellite Speakers. .

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The outputs from the Oppo are only Audio & Video / and Audio Only so that you can send the 4K direct to the screen and audio only to an amp if you demand absolute picture image or dont have a 4K amp/processor.

We use the Yamaha Processors and you can of course run a seperate power amp on the bigger versions.

If you’d like a compact AV receiver to drive M-1 x 5 above about 90hz, then a Marantz NR1608 is ideal for the job. These really are very well featured indeed and are a bit of a bargain for the sound quality!

A power amp isn’t ideal at all, as you need way more functionality to maximise you speaker set up. I wouldn’t dream of taking that route.
