So once you've made some profit, who's purchasing anything directly..I believe Expedia and Paypal take them, but not that simple especially through Coinbase.

You are aware what 20 coins are worth, are you?

The biggest disadvantage of BTC is its sudden up and downs.

Bitcoin and altcoins are not even something that big.
One million userbase, just trading, with a lot of whales who love to cash in at 10+ k US

Rather than going after mammon its wiser to follow those Tipps to become a better person
That is a life time aspiration with a higher chance to lead a happier life than letting personal shortcomings
govern us. Dedicate yourself to eat healthier and suround yourself with positive people + some sport is all whats needed.

I need educating

How does one actually spend bitcoin?

I mean, you can't walk into your local car dealer and pay with bitcoin.

You transfer them from your bitcoin wallet to the retailer's bitcoin wallet. Same as you'd do a transfer from your bank.

I'll have to ask if my local car dealers have bitcoin wallets then?

I know a fair few people in business, don't know any that deal in bitcoin.

.. any BMW dealerships near you?!

scalability needs resolving for more bitcoin adoption for sure (lightning network), but for now as a workaround if you wanted to spend your crypto in the larger stores (e.g amazon, john lewis) or on an evening out (all bar one, zizzi), or spend bitcoin on a new Breitling (Ernest Jones) you can just buy gift cards with your Bitcoin! > https://giftoff.com/gift-cards

though the most i ever spend with my cryptocurrency is a hundred odd quid here and there on an Oz of natures finest

How would you buy the Diclosure and Barring Service.

This is a car forum...what do you think a DBS is? Hint: Aston Martin...
