Poppies seen on the BBC news today. Is it too early? Should everyone be wearing them? Should sports teams be allowed to wear them? What about the metal blinged up ones?

I’ve got a couple of paper ones that I bought at the garage I tend to wear one at work but not really on my casual clothes. I don’t really care if others wear one or not.

I asked my kids what they want to do and they wear them on their school uniform. They actually thought they HAD to wear them and when I asked them why, one said it was disrespectful to the dead if they didn’t.

Its a crock of ste. People should wear one or not depending solely on if they want to. Its up to them. As an ex-squaddie I couldn't give monkeys if ppl don't bother. But, if you are, wear the red poppy only. This white poppy lark is a bullst political statement & none of the funds go to good causes.

I'm glad they've gone back to the little paper poppies this year. Those massive ceramic ones were very difficult to wear.

General etiquette is to wear one from the start of the Poppy Appeal which I think was 19th October this year.

There's a thread on here already RE the appeal, I'm wearing my Passchendaele 100 Memorial pin at the mo.

Various folks in my local town spent the last year knitting 7,000 poppies, which have been put onto a huge strip of backing cloth and wound round our town clock tower, then lit red. It looks excellent. They've even included some blue ones as we're twinned with a French town and the blue flower/bleuet de France is the French equivalent of the poppy to our veterans.

I'm quite tempted to get one of those BFO car bumper plastic ones & stick it on a hat. Look flash that i reckon.
