Curious to know what laws (if any) are related to EV 'public' charging points.

From what I see its usually free parking at charge point if the car's being charged. So what happens when the car has charged are you supposed to return and move it: within what sort of time scale?

Now the towns around where I live have charging points run by different companies so I'd need to sign up to at least 3 or is there a generic solution?

Zap Map is your friend for looking at what each point uses/charges you for in the area

https://www.zap-map.com/ - they also have a smartphone app.

No rules/regulations on squatting in a charging point if you're fully charged - but hey, I'd say it's your conscience and good etiquette to leave when possible. I think there's also a few apps for people who can when they arrive at a charging point 'bump' the person to notify them someone's hoping/waiting/wanting to charge if that person also 'checked-in' to the charging point at the time. Can't recall the name of that though at the moment.

There was a guy at a local car park which would park in the charging space, put the plug in but not actually charge, so he got the free parking. Of course I didn't disconnect him and put the charger back (which I wouldn't be able to do if he was using it as it'd lock into the car's socket). I also didn't hope he ever got a ticket. Think a few weeks later he stopped doing that, freeing the space up for someone who'd actually want to charge.

Polar use to be my charge card of choice, as they offer 9p/kWh at some charging points - which for a PHEV driver is actually viable.

I don't know about law but I think if all of the Tesla superchargers are full and your car is done charging you get notified to move your car or they start to fine you on your account. Hasn't happened to me yet but I think I saw it being discussed on Tesla forum.
