My best guess is 53, 789 but I think it could be read 55, 789.

That's not tricky, 55789. The two first digits are clearly written in the same way, and the first is a 5 so logically the second is.

The first two numbers are definitely not the same - the start stroke at the top of the number are in completely different directions.
