I have a hand brake fault on my A6 - VCDS scan says

71680 - Right Parking Brake Motor voltage supply
C100E 12 [008] - Short to Plus

Before I go and check the wiring to the brake motor which right should I be looking at ! The right hand side as I sit in the car or the right hand side as I look at the front of the car ?!

job 1 is surely just clear all faults and see if it comes back. Half the time they don't.

Yes indeed - and right now all seems to be OK. Fingers crossed!

Yes, odd why that happens.

Sometimes low battery voltage or a battery near it's end of life can start introducing these false errors.

I do wander if it the first sign of the battery dying

The fault happened on the only morning so far this year where we had a frost...... been fine since code cleared and no frost again as of yet

Lets see what happens.....

Indeed, I had many odd errors on my old A3 including, gear (DSG) selection faults, multiple warning lights - mainly ABS & power steering, all because the battery was weak on startup.

Switched off and restarted and all was well again but a new battery made them all stop permanently.

My Son's Golf 'match' 1.4TSI had a weak battery which also brought up various, random errors, all of which have gone now it has a new battery.

I suppose that is quite logical since modern cars have so many sensors.

Whereas I had multiple lights and errors which I thought might be a battery. £80 quid later and new battery bought they were all still there. Turned out to be an ABS sensor. Anyone need a spare battery for an A4 rolleyes
