I need a new set of HT leads for my Griff 500. Any recommendations on type and where I should get them from?

Joe.

I second that, changed to Magnacor last year when the std leads disintegrated, a year on they still look great with no signs heat damage.Got mine from Tim Lamont at ACT.

They are standard Range Rover parts if you need to find them - but I would go to the best you can afford.

Little tip - make sure they really really really are on firmly at the dizzy. On mine they will feel like they are on - but still push on further. You then avoid wondering why you're driving a 4375 cc 7 cylinder!!!

Heh - I thought of theming mine purple too, but gave up when SFS supplied 'fluoro' purple hoses which were cerise. Sent them back; should have had Samco. Anyway, got that out of my system now, decided to keep the hoses original.

Back to the plot, have you tried Demon Tweeks? Or maybe heat-shrink sleeving? Aerotek do this I think.

Good luck!

There are some amazingly funky coloured leads called "Megaleads" which come in fluorescent purple, blue, yellow, green, etc. The lead insulation is made of a semi-translucent silicone.

You can get them from Camberley Auto Factors (CAF) on 01252 518 222. Ask for Gary, who is very helpful. You want a set for a 1994 3.9 Litre Land Rover Discovery. You can all me if you need any help, or you end up speaking to a kloff-eared fusker at CAF.

Although the construction quality is very good, in my opinion they are not that good electrically. However there is a fix available if you really must have them! This is because they do not have enough resistance to give a good spark burn time.

Fortunately it is very simple - you just need to use a 5000 Ohm in-line suppressor in the king lead. Assuming you still have the 5000 Ohm suppressor caps on the spark plugs, everything should be OK.

You would still be better off with Magnecors, but we all have different priorities (thank goodness!).
