We're all familiar with the dodgy connecting block on the rear light cluster. Here's a simple fix inspired by Phillpot's solution. Just crimp some small female spade terminals to the each end of some new lengths of wire. Push one set of ends onto the male spades on the bulb holder and the other end into the connector on the loom.

This is just a mock-up to make sure the fix works, it does. When my new crimp tool turns up I'll make up a shorter and properly insulated intermediate loom. The spades are a tight fit at both ends so should stay put but to make sure I'll use SUGRU to tidy up and secure the connections into the old connector block.

Anythings got to be better than the OE set-up and hopefully stuffing the boot full of stuff for EuroTours will no longer result in non-working indicators.

Am I missing something?

Why not chop old connector off, new connectors onto original loom, straight onto bulb holder?

Less connectors, less joins, less wires, less mess? Or is the loom too short?

Less reversible if there is a problem.

The main reason I haven't gone the whole hog yet though is because I don't know how well the double wires into the back of the OE connector will crimp onto new new terminals. Once I've had play with my new toy I may do as you suggest using something like THESE.

The new toy turned up today and made short work of crimping the connections.

Twin cable crimps easy too so there's two 6-way multi-pin plugs on the way. Where's my wire cutters?

looks like they do a neat job, got a link to supplier?

I've tried various crimpers for the "old school" Lucas connectors, without much success

All sorted...

If you're considering doing anything like this, or any other wiring mod, then I'd recommend getting a proper crimper. After years of struggling with small pliers and solder this makes everything so much easier. No more burnt or pinched fingers for me thumbup

They won't help at all I'm afraid. It's all to do with (i) the crappy design of the clips on the bulb holder and the female terminals in the connector block & (ii) the way the lights were fitted to the 'S' by TVR. This means the bulb holder and connector are unprotected and get knocked about.
