.. other tuners out there far more capable & experienced in tuning such cars.
Many have said this over the years, but I've yet to see read anything to back the statement up. I've had cars mapped/chipped by a number of different companies (DMS did my Porsche), and all have been fine. In fact the best maps were by smaller tuners. Mind you, DMS charge x3 everybody else, so they must be better, even though you only get the same bhp/ftlbs gains.

The guys who mapped my RS6 were out in Liverpool - a company no-one will have heard of unless one frequents the particular forum. Remap was excellent.
It's a fair point & one i wouldn't argue, it's more around the who does what with what? For the good old R35 GT-R for instance, Litchfield & SVM are the known powerhouses, for Audi RS's, MRC & Unit 20 would be the same, with a caveat that a handful of other reputable tuners are now appears to be offering quality RS maps, including DMS & Litchfield. For VAG (non RS) you have APR & again MRC. Revo did have a decent presence in this market a number of years ago, but it all went t1ts up with significant inappropriate business dealings a few years back. Perhaps now they're making amends, but point still stands that i & many others would not choose to hand over ££ to them.
A lot to be said for going the tried & trusted route, but that doesn't dismiss the smaller outfits not being fit for purpose, just perhaps more of a gamble, but possibly at a lower cost.

Considerably lower cost I found. However to be fair geography plays a part - MRC and a number of the more well known tuners are a long way from where I live so I generally go for a more local option. This also helps if the map needs a little 're-tuning' later. Like you say Revo have had a presence for a number of years (I'm no particular Revo fan beyond any other tuner), It's possible they've been around a bit longer than MRC.A lot to be said for going the tried & trusted route, but that doesn't dismiss the smaller outfits not being fit for purpose, just perhaps more of a gamble, but possibly at a lower cost.

A fair point, but personally i'd rather travel to a tried & trusted tuner & some will come to you if needed.Revo have indeed been around for many years, however dropped off the face of the earth when they had let's say severe 'business' issues.
Update. Not so happy now I suspect. OP's engine has blown up and facing 40K bill

Ouch...poor bugger!
What's the story with Revo anyway, they were always the big players within VAG circles and I've had a couple of my cars running their maps?
Having said that, we got a Focus ST Estate family wagon and thats running a Bluefin map, as it comes with a device you can put the original map back on when it goes in for any dealer work. Would I trust it 100%..not really as I'm sure they'd be able to tell somehow..

It's well developed. It does not push as much as other software. You generally have that element of safety.
I suspect OP's engine fault was going to happen at some point and just a case of the remap accelerated the fault.

Absolutely. No such thing as a totally undetectable map. Has been proved with many different tuning box/piggy back solutions. What's the story with Revo anyway, they were always the big players within VAG circles and I've had a couple of my cars running their maps?

As for Revo, i'm not doubting their current technology, but having known them for many years, i'd not touch them if they were 10% of the cost of any other option. Far better tuning companies/solutions out there.
No idea if the O/P\s tale is genuine as he's become a bit of an Internet Forum sensation over the last 48hrs, however not a good advert if the car was running fine, then went to Revo for some surgery, only to implode a few weeks later. Not saying the tune had anything to do with the engine detonation, but i'm not one who believes in coincidences.

Maybe this is a bit tin foil hat, but with the money involved in remaps, reputation plays a massive part in where customers take their car.As for Revo, i'm not doubting their current technology, but having known them for many years, i'd not touch them if they were 10% of the cost of any other option. This all seems a bit convenient, the original poster would have to be be epically stupid to play this all out on this forum and the main RS forums combined when he is (apparently) trying to pull a fast one. Stuff like this attracts maximum internet publicity for him and potentially massive damage to REVO's reputation.
His title to the thread covers literally every base when it comes to Google searching and yet the original post is very light on detail
I still maintain mapping any RS6 is bloody stupid, not exactly short of go as standard.
