Dinner around Canary Wharf
Discussion
Got a dinner coming up with colleagues after work* ( end of next week). Suggestions of somewhere to eat in/around the Canary Wharf area welcome (and possibly along the DLR route at a push).
Top on the list is Big Easy (that gives an idea of price, lets say £20 for a main).
I'm fine with this as I've been to the covent garden one twice on their all-you-can-eat days.
we're not all powerfully built company directors driving a a TVR as a daily, so it's all coming out of our own pocket.
Open to all suggestions as I'll look into them and offer them up to everyone.
It might be benificial if it was halal or offered some vegetarian options (as a couple of people are muslim). But these people are happy to eat something vegetarian.*
Suggestions to rule out (as I have eaten there so don't need the reccomendation, unless stated).
- nothing italian...that's just boring.
- wagamama
- nandos
- wahaca
- Jamie Oliver (never been, but man is gonna be boring).
- cafe crouge, frankie & bennies, garfunkels, chiquitos
- byron
.*yes I'm aware you can't please everyone.
thanks!

A bunch of us took clients to Giant Robot a couple of weeks ago and we were all quite impressed. It's not gourmet but there's loads of choice on both food and beverage fronts, and it's very relaxed, if a little noisy. Book a table if there's a bunch of you as you'll need a "home" to return to after you've checked out the offerings.

Is there still that Tapas place on the 'Via Fossa / Bar 38' stretch? That's a great evening out - drinks and nibbles.
The Parlour is good if you can get a table, though maybe a bit loud sometimes.
Or the places just down the steps from Wesfterry roundabout - Chinese, Gaucho and a nice bar if I recall.
Man I've not been out in the evening here for a long time lol

The single most plastic thing in the whole of London. Horrendous, IMHO. A pretend 'street food' market, in a brand new building, filled with braying tw*ts drinking on expenses. I quite literally couldn't think of anywhere I'd less like to eat.http://canarywharf.com/eating-drinking/directory/g...
I love proper street food markets (take the one on Goulston St in the City), but Giant Robot is as fake as fake comes!
Plateau is my favourite spot at CW, and you can eat on the set menu for around your budget.

The Gun has always been superb when I've been. Bit of history too which is rare for C Wharf
.
This for something different and British.
.Sticks and Sushi is pretty nice Japanese food (much to my surprise).
Not convinced about the Big Easy. It's OK but nothing more.
If you like curry, maybe head up Commercial Road and go to Lahore Kebab House (byo booze).
Royal China at Westferry for Chinese.
