Hi All

I've looked through some of the more recent posts and could not find the answer to my issue, I'm sure others have resolved this problem

One of my tyres has just failed the MOT test.

Currently I have Pirelli 295 /30 ZR 18s on all round - N3 rated.

The garage is suggesting Bridgestones - approx. 470 for 2 fitted

Would you always go for N rated tyres?
Any suggestions for good quality tyres that you have had experience of?

Thanks in advance!

Alastair

I hope you don't have the same size all round! :-)
Michelin PS2's, although an old tyre, were always rated more highly than the Pirelli's and fitted to many 996T's.

I you have a warranty then go for N rated tyres, if you dont then get yourself a set of four Michelin Pilot Super Sports or PS4S tyres.

And a new car that they will fit.

Or look for PS2.

I'm sure you can get n4's for the rear.

Can someone just clarify what the 'n' rating stands for - why n3, n4?
I have Continental Sport Contact 2's all round on my Turbo & despite having to throw away 2 rears within 200 miles, due to a puncture very close to the edge & catching a rock when taking a corner a bit too keenly, they seem a decent tyre, whatever the weather.

As others have said, only really an issue if you have the official porsche warranty, you can get the official warranty for cars up to either 15 years or 125,000 miles.

Makes sense. Thanks for that. Don't know that mine are 'n' rated, but they're good tyres & I don't do the warranty thing.

I would stick with N-rating while under factory warranty but the point about older cars not benefiting is well made. It always amuses me when people suggest I should have N-rated tyres on a car built (in 1990) long before Porsche had even thought of N-rating tyres.
