Is that why the Mexico F1 thread was so badly slashed?

Is that a new word which has just entered the lexicon of vernacular American?
It has been in usage since at least 2000. It is, however, entering more common usage to describe the increased use of AI/ML technologies to provide a level of automation in unstructured data contexts.

Also used I believe to describe posters who post single line replies or questions in dozens of threads which bare little relation to the key topic matter in hand.

It was only a week ago a PHer said the price of rice in China has a massive macroeconomic influence of the current political climate.

What with this not being an American site, you're asking the wrong crowd.

Actually it's a global site, although the majority of users are UK based.

It's a global site in the way that all websites are global - but it's primarily a UK-targetted site, with a sizeable minority of international users.

How odd.

I appear to have had a rather innocuous post in the thread about Gordon Brown edited by "barracuda mod".

It hasn't edited my remark, but an utterly inoffensive remark about Gordon Brown's famous "saving the world" remark by another poster.

For the life of me I can't think why.

I'd re-edit it back to how it was.

Seems more than a bit dodgy to have an unknown process, operating to unknown rules, editing posts to tweak the content - and leaving them under the original author's name - without making it clear what content has been edited or why. A little note at the bottom doesn't cut it.

It's one thing to apply an obvious censor edit, another to rework what's there.

Third party moderation has a dubious history already and this doesn't help its reputation.

You might think terms 4.1.1 and 4.2 protect you, I wouldn't rely on the 'edit' right to that extent.

I find it more normal.

I found it very weird to find out that there were 'voluntary' mods on the site. If its a community focused site then sure, but why would anyone give up their own free time and work for no pay to assist a large and profitable commercial entity.

I figured must be some power position thing.

It's taken a link to a totally inoffensive and very highly regarded factual history book on Amazon out from my post to that thread, too. Ridiculous...

Several posts were removed the other day from a rather technical thread regarding construction and use regs. No indication why, or even that it had happened.
