Hi seeking a little bit of advice. Just replaced the oil filter in my car. With the seal fitted I can only tighten to the position in the photo. Does the position of the oil filter look correct? I have run on idle for 15 mins with no leaks. Just to be sure, thanks

Did you follow the instructions that came with the filter? Typically they will specify that the filter has to be tightened by a given angle after the seal makes contact, for example half a turn or three quarters of a turn. From the picture it's impossible to tell how tight that is.

Hi no instructions came with filter, but I can assure you it's very tight. I was just concerned as there is around 5mm gap between the engine and the lip of the filter, but I guess this is normal. Strange thing is when I took the old filter out there was no o ring on it and it was screwed fully flush ( no 5mm band gap). I think the previous garage where I got serviced forgot to fit the o ring and just screwed it as tight as they could. Lucky enough it didn't leak. Hope that makes sense

Hi that filter is not fitted correctly !!!
It might not leak now but it will !!
You need to wind it down so the collar bottoms out on the top of the housing and then slight pinch to seal it.
The rubber ring Should ne be viewable it sealson the side of the housing
