If it's comfort you're after how about a BMW 7 Series for £25k?

Not specifically after comfort, just 'better than the Fiesta' comfort. The 3 series is a good shout, haven't really looked into them.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Did you find the Golf boring because it's 4wd variant of a FWD hatch? They drive similarly. Perhaps you're bored of FWD hatches?
Perhaps you need a different drivetrain to get a different experience?
Would you like to try a:
- Previous generation 3 series coupé?
- GT86?
- MX5 (not as a jokey meme but a serious suggestion)?
- wafty barge? (Take your pick!)
Edit: You could get a nice, nearly depreciation-proof Z4M for your money. Just saying...
