On Thursday Mrs James-T has had a glass of wine and suggested that she needs to revisit Boxster/Cayman ownership to supplement her Macan. It's her big 5..0 ... in December and so we popped into local OPC for a noncommittal look-around. Now, there's lots of opinions on the 4-banger and 6-banger engines but they have the following:

Cayman 3.4S - A year old and all the toys

Cayman GTS - 2014 but Mmmm....

Cayman GT4 .... No I'm not spending that much, but it was making her smile and other things...

Not local ....Cayman 718S .... Nice spec... Probably sounds like a tractor frown

I'm all for the 2016 Cayman S, but I always like a bit of feedback from those better acquainted with the current thoughts on the 718/981 debate smile

Well, nothing wrong with your choice, although GTS would be tempting apart from the button shift ( depends on whether manual shifting would be important).

My choice would be the 2016 Cayman S with all the toys on. There'll always be a market for one with so many factory options on in the future and that one really has. Two years newer than the GTS for less money and it looks like the first owner spent £67,500 on it!

Luckily she's a bit of a petrol-head too, so suggested we sell everything and buy the Voodoo Blue GT3RS which looks just amazing. Back to reality, so will see what the GT4 works out to on a PCP... smile

I've a 2lt Cayman 718 due soon and I'm happy with that, plenty of performance for what it'll be used for.

In your original post you mention Boxster/Cayman but all the cars you linked to are Cayman's....I'd have thought for a fun/second car a soft top might be good ?

Funnily enough Mrs Cheib's Boxster is due at the OPC this week....to supplement the family Cayenne which is basically now hers!

She used to have a Boxster a few years ago and rarely put the roof down. We have trees surrounding the entrance drive and the sap is a killer for the hood, so I'm pushing for a Cayman smile

Talk about good things that come to those that wait. Currently out in Asia with Mrs. JTK (nice and warm too), so put the whole idea on hold for a few weeks and the little gem GT4 has become a bit of a 'bargain' whilst we're away. *10-minutes later* Good lady still wants a convertible frown
