Morning
Looking for some advice pkease.
As title suggests my 06 997 3.6 seems to have developed a misfire.
It’s normally stored indoors but I had to leave it outside over the last 2 weeks.
It was running fine when I parked it up.
On starting it I got an engine warning light and visit workshop message.
It runs rough and feels like at least one cylinder is misfiring.
Spoke to someone who knows a thing or two about Porsches and he diagnosed failed coil pack. Thought it was probably damaged anyway and sitting for two weeks will have allowed moisture in.
Does that sound about right?

Yes coil pack sounds right, believe you can buy a set cheap enough rather than just replace the one, up to you.

Hi agree with your friend, coil packs most common failure.
I have replaced 24 in the last month.
One thing i would advise is not driving the car,as fuel will wash oil away from piston, latest coil packs have been modified and much larger.

Many thanks
You preempted my next question! Do you think it will be ok to drive to the garage (10 miles)

It is really not good to drive a mis-firing car, especially flat 6.

Almost definitely coil packs. If the misfire is bad I wouldn’t drive it. Just not worth the risk is it?

It was indeed a coil pack. £100+vat at local indie

He said most people probably would have driven it there but getting it recovered probably was the right option.

Never been so pleased to hand over £100!

Many thanks for input
