What car for me please - £7500 or so, not too old, rorty exhaust note, quick but does not have to be ridiculous, handles well, not a complete hard-shoulder regular and not a complete gas guzzler, must have back seats and maybe even estate (non-essential)??

thanks

335i (you'll need to do some work on the exhaust on most modern cars to get an exhaust note)
335i was my first thought as it's the best exhaust noise I've had (bar V8s), no work was needed at all and it was even too loud after the "tee mod". Maybe my baffles were gone but it sounded epic.

Lol. So a pretty ordinary fwd family hatchback. A fine Vehcile no doubt. But I struggle to see how it meets the op on any level.

Maybe something Monaro or Mustang like if a Coupe with 2+2 seating would suit. Even the 4.0 V6 Mustang packs over 200hp and will run 0-60mph in under 7 sec. Not sure if these are in budget though.

I very much like the RX-8 R3 and you’d only need a part of your budget to get one of these cleverly styled 4 door saloons.

Estate wise. You might find a 5.7 Hemi 300C in budget. Big car so not exactly nimble handling. But should still be capable. Aftermarket exhaust and very rorty.

Or there are things like Imprezas or other Subaru’s that might fit the bill.

Not sure what your definition of not too old, handling or gas guzzler are though.

You make it pretty clear on here that you dont like hatchbacks, fair enough.

But how does a Focus ST fail on every single thing that the OP has asked for?

Probably best to let the op answer of it does or not. I just don’t see a Focus ST fitting the description on any level in my opinion.

It’s not that I don’t like hatchbacks. But they exist for a reason. That reason usually being a practical often fairly ordinary Vehcile. The ST is an ideal car if you need a mid size family Vehcile with a decent boot and you can only afford/justify one car and want it to have some pace too.

But that isn’t how I read the op.

I am not saying that he will like the car, but it does answer every question.
Roty exhaust
Back seats
Not too thirsty
Pretty quick
Handles well
Not too old
Wont break down too often

And its in budget

I completely agree, it ticked every box. 300bhp/ton is wrong.

That's leggy DC5 money, better spent on an integra over a civic type R unless you were on a budget of half that.

It is getting harder to find them at that price though, so i wouldn't hang about too long.

With pretty much the same brief as you state, I bought this. Volvo C30 T5 that I've added some go-faster/look better goodies to, courtesy of do88, Milltek, Polestar and Eibach among others. I came from a succession of MX5s and warm Fords, fancied the 5-pot lump from the Focus ST but didn't want the stigma that comes with them. The Ovlov has been a cracking car, I'm currently amassing parts to take it to around 300bhp.
