Strange, mixed feelings.
Discussion
I know, I know, blokes don't talk about feelings. I also know that strange is quite normal to some on this forum, (you know who you are
).
All that aside, this evening I just feel that something is amiss, all is not quite right in my world.
The reason for this weird outpouring of sentimental claptrap?
I have been the caretaker of my 290S since the 11th June 2005, almost 12 1/2 years, in that time it has only been driven by anyone else once (to move it on the drive whilst I was out). It has never been worked on by anyone else, except to assist me when required, then at lunchtime today I parked it here :-

And there it was, gone.
Now it's not gone forever, it's gone to RT Racing in Sheffield for some accident repair work. I know it's in good hands. It's just very odd knowing that my car is not sitting in my garage where it belongs.
Very odd indeed.
Cheers,
Carl.

Hmmm. I mentioned no names but you answered Glen. Coincidence?
The mark you cannot make out on the door bottom.

The door skin has cracked from the frame along the bottom and I suspect there will be more damage under the sill kick plate going by the bend in it.
Fortunately the 18 month old outrigger seems unaffected.
We also have.

There is also some scuffing to front and rear wheel arches.
More worrying however and the main reason for going to RT, rather than a body shop, is that when I came to drive away I realised that my tracking was way out and on further inspection discovered.

The lower arm and track rod are both bent. I suspect the hub is bent as the track rod end appears to now be rubbing the brake disc. It is possible the wheel may also be bent.
Richard will also be checking for rack and chassis damage, I really hope he doesn't find any especially the chassis.
What happened? We had an altercation with a large (at least they seem large when they try to climb into an S with you) Mercedes estate and lost.
Thankfully, although nothing in writing yet, the other driver appears to be facing upto his responsibilities and accepting liability so I am hoping for a smooth resolution.
So there you have it, my tale of woe. Don't get me wrong, I know it's not that bad and first world problems and all. Nobody was injured or worse. It'll all be okay in the end. It's just irritating, especially since I only finished nailing it back together July last year and I didn't damage it myself by driving like kn0b!
Meanwhile, I just have to get my head around the fact that it's not here and somebody else is going to be working on it.
Cheers,
Carl.
