I suspect that this has been done to death elsewhere - if so, please point me at it.

I'm thinking of things like "your call is important to us" and "we are experiencing unusually high call volumes".

Got one in the post today from Majestic Wines : "You haven't been to see us for a while but as a loyal customer I wanted to offer you ..." Not that loyal, hey ?

Any others ?

I bought a watch December 2015 from Beaverbrooks.

Today in the post, a letter & a £50 ‘gift card’ - come spend >£200 with us for your discount....

So in other words, you’re operating on at least 25% margin? Good to know!

Our local pub is brilliant but they now say "enjoy" with everything they bring you...fine when the meal comes and ok when the wine comes but when you ask for some mustard or some water the 15th "enjoy" gets a little annoying.....I am waiting for the "enjoy" when I get the bill.

"Only", especially when followed by a ludicrous price.

Saw an EE advert for the iPhone X earlier along the lines of "Only £69 per month with £££ upfront"

Or PCP adverts for some boggo Merc A-Class saying "Only £299 per month with £7000 initial rental"

Bargain.

(Should add I'm not against the advertising of monthly payments, not everyone can pay cash all the time)

Ads are increasingly not saying 'two hundred and ninety nine a month' for your velour easy wipe sofa, it's now 'two nine nine' presumably to fool mouth breathers into thinking it's less money.

"Hurry, this offer only lasts until midnight".

Why are you trying to sound as though the timing of this is out of your control, something inevitable?

You want to try to manipulate my emotions into buying your product? fk off and don't insult my intelligence!

Eurocarparts and GSF have sales all the time which are baffling, they are out DFS'ing DFS. They always feel like there is lots of ball cackery and hood winkering going on with them but I always make sure that whatever component it is on my car, that it fails when there is a sale on.

That Safestyle advert, always loved that Northern Henry VIII and William Shakespear hybrid guise. It got me back in 2004 where I got them to fit half of my windows for FREE! I wonder if the mulleted slap-head who looks like it was a terrible effort and a proper chore to get out of bed, that day, to make that advert is actually Mr Safestyle. Regardless, a legend.

He used to get out of bed and count the bundles of untaxed cash he kept in the wardrobe. Daily Fail link:
