I have a cheapo bike ( worth maybe £70 used) its pretty scratched up with a ripped seat but still it's bright red so it still stands out and still looks decent when washed
I don't really have a lock and I rarely leave it anywhere anyway, but I want to start commuting with it and it would suck if one day I come back and I don't have a way to get back home.
This is the lock I want to buy ( actually It's free because I have a credit on that site and I only want to get it because it costs me nothing and I need to spend the credit biggrin )

I understand its not the cheapest poundshop lock, but still its a cable lock with just some added protection to the cable itself so probably not very good.
Is it worth to get it or am I wasting my time?

I used to finish one of my commutes with a mile bike ride on a £120 bike - at the destination it got locked up with a section of chain which was inside an old inner tube, and a decent weight padlock.

If your bike is cheap, and if your not overly bothered if its gets stolen, then any lock might do.

But that particular lock will be very easy to cut with bolt croppers. Thats how they most are stolen from my city centre. Its quite amazing how many cyclists have their very expensive bikes stolen when all they have used is a cheap cable lock.

I use an Abus Bordo Granit X-Plus folding lock when my bike is parked at work inside the building. I would never leave my bike outside unattended, no matter how many locks I had fitted. But I realise some people have no choice.
