I wondered if anyone has used one of these and if so what was the result?

This company, ( VT Automotive) which I have had my engine heat shielding and other bits, (QD bonnet hinges) from are very good.

This blanket is the more expensive one as this as it is 100% Silicium.

This one is 50% Silicon and 50% Vateline.

I have just been browsing through their 12 pages of chimaera bits and pieces of which many are really good.

I guess the prices are on the expensive side as the pound is weak but apart from that I thought this next item was such a good idea. Why keep all that heat encased in the car?

If I was doing a body off restoration I think I would give it a try, unfortunately most of the heat appears to radiate through footwell. The exhaust plate must allow more cool air circulate around the silencer which can only be a good thing.

Eventually all that heat has to go somewhere, so my solution was to reduce the amount of heat generated by the engine in the first place.

Remove your cats and run more ignition advance at idle and you'll be amazed, your TVR engine will go from the standard nuclear furnace impersonator to a cool operator.

Your idle will be smoother and your throttle sharper, you'll release a few horsepower with the cats removed and with more advance at idle you'll use less fuel during stop start town driving, best of all you'll stay cooler in the summer and your engine ancillaries will last longer too.

Don't fight the heat or try to reflect it away, be smarter by reducing it at source, then simply enjoy the many additional benefits listed above wink
