E350 Cdi issues, any thoughts ?
Discussion
E350 Cdi is the car in question, 265 BHP model. Car showed EML light on and off intermittently then went into limp mode. Diagnosed, albeit probably as engine port motor, this was changed and briefly car drove fine.
Garage did say a number of issues can cause further EML and limp mode issues. Light now comes on occasionally car goes into limp mode, won't rev past 3000rpm and the gearbox doesn't react as it should, holds gears for too long, is lumpy.
Latest view is that this may be EGR valve, which appears to be around £500 to supply and change. An option I seem to have come across is to have the EGR disabled via a programme change, possibly as part of a remap. GAD tuning offers this, plus one other remap outfit I've spoken to so far. Cost roughly the same as EGR replacement, with the apparent benefit of no further EGR complication and a remapped car.
Any views on this ? Seem viable, any experience ?

Who has done the diagnosis and did they have STAR, which is the recognised Mercedes tool (now Xentry)?
It needs to go to a proper MB specialist who has experience in using Star diagnostic equipment as anything else would be second guessing. I'd also make sure that the fault was sorted before attempting any modifications.
