Speedo Lighting

Before any one has a go, I have tried searching...

However, having not long been inducted to the prestigious brotherhood that is Chimaera ownership, I was wondering if there is anything that can be done to illuminate the speedo better.

All other instruments in my 98 Chim 500 are just dandy, but the Speedo is dim (understand this is "normal"). It makes the whole dash look out of balance at night, which is hard to take when you're a virgo...

Anyone got any fixes???

Hi,

As i understand it (because i looked into the same thing) there is only one light in the speedo but two in the Tacho, This means that the speedo is darker,

However

Apparently some Chims have two bulbs and one has just gone out

or you can take out the one bulb (2w i think) and replace it with a 4w to make it as bright as the tacho.

Both need the dash off which is a PITA so i have decided to live with it untill i have to take the dash off then do it then.

Remove a bulb from the taco?

Thinking about it, this post may all be a non issue!

I realise that I only tend to look at the Tacho...I get the speed off my TomTom Go most of the time.

But I still dont like the imbalance between the dials!

Don't worry you still have some newbie questions to go yet - the next will be 'help! all the instruments lights have gone out' don't worry they are not broken.

Take the top of the dash off and check as i lived with a dim speedo for over a year mine did have two bulbs with only one that worked also i chnaged both bulbs for 5w ones now all the dials are the same wahoo !!!!

Chims have a speedo!?!?!

Must remember to look for that next time I go for a hoon!
