We have a bowl and stick-thing, but the bits go everywhere, and grinding more than a teaspoon is a PITA.

So what's the best choice of electric spice grinder? For things like coriander/fennel seeds, nutmeg, etc.

Under £50 or so?

One of these would probably do the job very nicely.

Got a Cuisinart and love it. It will also do pastes as well, so marinades or garlic/ginger paste are easy.

That - Cuisinart - looks about perfect. Bit spendier than the other suggestion, but within budget.

But I can't find it in-stock anywhere! Withdrawn?

We've used one of these for over 15 years. Great piece of kit.

Just back to say "thanks". I ordered the Krups mentioned above and it's fine. Wanted the Cuisinart for the ease of washing/extras, but nowhere to be seen.

Thanks chaps smile

I'm hoping to receive a De’Longhi KG79 for my birthday next week. It's sold as a coffee grinder but is supposed to do a good job on spices too; not that I'd use it for both.

A tip for anyone wanting to do 'pastes' - from the World Food part of the freezer section at Asda, garlic, ginger, garlic and ginger mix, in meal sized cubes.

Big bags of these for 89p each. Forget the desiccated garlic and shrivelled ginger at the back of the fridge, never mind the faff of peeling and chopping. Saves time and money.

Good shout that. Although on the ginger side when I buy a lump I just peel it and stick it in a bag in the freezer - it grates from frozen really well.
