Good stuff, I'll watch with interest. I wish top drivers would try other disciplines more often, watching him have a crack at Indy was the highlght of the season for me.
Absolutely. I had never watched a 500 race before with interest, but I watched the entire race with Alonso's participation.

I'm sure his involvement in other race series will only endear him to many other viewers around the world.

Isn't LMP1 basically dead?

Toyota are the last remaining manufacturer team, and the last remaining LMP1H team, but there are (or will be next year) several privateer teams running non-hybrid LMP1 cars.

Actually I think lmp1 could be really interesting next year with several new lmp1teams including a 2 car effort from Manor. Yes Toyota re the only manufacturer entry but it doesn’t mean they will dominate

This could be a huge factor in why Alonso wanted to try this year.

At least "unlike Indy" the engine will not be a Honda.

McLaren sure are pulling out all the stops to keep Alonso.

Just lets hope Le Man is not the only chance for victory for Alonso in 2018.

The Indy 500 winning car this year had the same Honda engine that Alonso had in his.

Toyota's reliability at Le Mans over the years has not been that good.

The rules look like they will be drafted to make it very interesting - the rule makers are really serious about making it competitive

That's not a given neither given Toyota luck or lack of at le mans.

2 Toyota’s will take each other out next year and Alonso’s car will break down with 4 laps to go. Toyota will yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory hehe

I don't think there's any glory winning in a factory car against privateers, especially in a different class. I'm surprised Toyota have even bothered for next year, I thought they'd be on hold until the new regs are confirmed and people like Peugeot/Citroen back at it.

I think Toyota will take any victory they can get, after the luck they've had there over the years.

It's not like they haven't done the hard yards so good on them for staying & hoping that they can get a car to finish on the top step.
