They do a clubman's championship - which when did it several years ago, was a good mix of regularity and "tests".

It could depend on your budget and just how serious you want to compete.
Basically as mentioned above HRCR roughly £130.00 an event single day, serious competition element but a decent social side.
Classic Rally tours often continental multi day quite expensive very social and fairly light on competition. (Other products are available,)
HERO various events which range from light competition and very social to full on tough Endurance Rallying like Rally of the Tests and Le jog.
All have there place and cater for slightly different clientele. Without knowing quite where you fit it’s difficult to advise.

The final one of the year is this weekend around Le Touquet. Called the Beaujolais Rally as the great chrome cleaner that is known as Beaujolais Nouveau is released this week.
This event usually attracts some pre-war entries. Costs are under £1,000 for 2 people inc. ferry to Calais and Mercure style hotels.

April 28/29/30th – The Dieppe Classic Rally Tour
With a route through the Eure Valley and across the Seine Maritime this great start to the year takes us along the glorious coastline of the Cote Albatre.
Visiting some wonderful little use roads and delightful seaside towns within the Upper Normandy countryside you can be sure of a fun weekend of motorsport and as always great camaraderie.
June 30th/1st/2nd July – The Calvados Classic Rally Tour
Based in Pont L’Eveque this lovely spring rally tours the Calvados and Suisse Normande region. Pretty villages and twisty roads abound and there will be plenty of time to sample the local “Apple Juice!”
Regularities through the Touques valley and the Pays D’Auge will be a terrific way to use those classic cars for what they were built for- fun driving on amazing roads.
September 8/9/10th – The Champagne Classic Rally Tour
Our ever-favourite run to the Lake Aillette Hotel du Golf. This is always a highly popular event with great food, good company and a superb route through the Champagne Ardennes. We have brought this event forward from the usual October date so you can enjoy the finer weather and makes this now a lovely late summer rally to come and enjoy.

The Classic Trophy Rally – Pau and the Pyrenees
Our magnificent week-long event this year following the path of some of the very best early Trophies to finish in Pau at the foothills of the Pyrenees.
We meet in Tours for signing on Saturday 29th September then off early Sunday morning for a section of regularities across the Touraine vineyards to our next halt in Limoges. Monday then takes us through the Limousin countryside where this little driven area sees hardly any traffic until we reach our next overnight stop at Brive la Gaillarde.
Further regularities throughout Tuesday sees us travel through the Perigord Blanc and Cahors wine region to our hotel in Montauban. Wednesday now gets us down into the Pyrenees with some terrific mountain passes, wonderful villages and a well-deserved rest at Pau.
The grand finale then pushes ever higher onto the exciting Cols of the Pyrenees Altlantique where the Golden Eagles fly high and occasionally swoop down for a closer look at the rally cars whizzing past.
This is our premiere event of the year and if you are looking for an exciting adventure with great roads, quality hotels and true competition driving the best roads in the south west of France then don’t miss out. Get your deposit in soon as places will be limited.
17/18/19th November – The Beaujolais Classic Rally Tour
Our end of year party where the ever-friendly Hermitage Hotel in Montreuil make us welcome every year. The “Beaujolly ”as we call it is just that, great fun, good company and a hilarious drive around the sometimes wet and slippery roads of the Pas de Calais.
A good excuse for a jolly good booze up, some spirited driving and a chance to fill the boot and grab the old Christmas goodies on the way home.

Likely rent one, maybe take my own car over. Depends on cost.
I don't want to spank a fortune, but a 1,000 to 2,000 GBP ballpark is god for a start. Some of which will include hotels and some not. I am not up for dropping 15k GBP on a rally, especially not at this stage as I am a novice when it comes to them.

Should be just about doable for a short event that.
A HRCR style single day Historic Rally, Hotels for say 2 nights and hire of one of HERO's arrive and drive cars would probably end up about £1000.00.
