When the air con switches the radiator fans on to cool the condenser should it switch on one fan on or both.

I thought tvr forgot to switch any on? There is only the one trigger for both fans to come on if yours do come on.

Mine don't come on but it has a thermostat switch that runs to a relay which then sends a positive feed to the front n/s under the light pod. Unfortunately where ever is went to has been lost as its just a bare wire. The fans have individual live feeds so I could either connect the positive to one of the feeds which will bring on one fan or put another relay in and use the positive feed to trigger the relay to activate the otter switch which will bring both fans on. The positive feeds cable is not suitable to run both fans hence the question.
Hope this makes sense

Are you able to post images of all the components that you know of?
I don't understand what you mean by activate the Otter switch. Do you mean use a relay to bridge out the Otter switch?

Have you anything like the circuit below courtesy of Bertram Hill? http://www.bertram-hill.com/cooling-fans-schematic...

Sorry I may not have explained this very well. The radiator fans are working perfectly they come on as they should with regards cooling the engine. The issue I have is that I want to get the A/C working and this needs the fans to come on to cool the condensor when needed.
This is done by a thermostat switch that is located behind the glove box which activates a relay but the wire the relay activates is just laying in the n/s inner wing and is not connected to anything and whatever it was connected to has gone. I must add that this wire is not part of the loom so Likley not original. So either this wire was just going to one of the fans as a direct feed to one fan or I am missing something.

I understand now
I have been trying to find a diagram for your cars AC circuit but have had no luck
What I do know is that if anything has been altered there is a very good chance that the system isn't working as it should be
For example - The pressure switches in the system will very likely be linked to the cooling fans, if the cooling fans circuit has been altered the pressure switches may no longer be operating the cooling fans. The temperature switch that is located behind the glove box is very likely measuring the refrigerant temperature in the AC/Heater box inside the car, by running the cooling fans from this switch would mean that other circuits are being by-passed, I would expect the temperature switch to also switch the compressor off if the system was icing up

There is a topic about aircon problems in the Chimaera forum and it may be of some help. Have you a good diagram? I doubt you would be posting here if you had a diagram

There is a very good chance that the Chimaera AC is very similar to the Griffith AC, I don't have a Chimaera AC diagram

If I find more information I will post back here
Here is the link to a Chimaera AC topic https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Very helpful many thanks.
The car has come from Japan and was working perfectly over there but suffered a bump on the N/S front . The thermostat switch look original to me but no 100% I will post some pictures up next weekend when I have another look at it.
Cheers Chris

I've also not found a circuit diagram but do have some info on the wiring which I created when 'reverse engineering' my loom which does contain quite a lot of the A/C wiring and relays.

There are 3 relays for the A/C 2 are basic 4 pin relays the third is a fan timer. The timer earths the two cooling fan relays in the same way the otter switch does. These relays are in a block of 4 relay bases under the dash top (on a chim).
Each of these relays have a connection to the engine ECU. namely pins 21, 33 & 36.

I could send you what I have but I can't make any sense of it so you will have no chance...On my car there are 6 connections to these relays that go to connector pins with nothing connected on the other side.

Hi,

the rad fans are activated by the trinary switch located on top of the receiver drier. The green/pink wire from the rad fan circuit is earthed by this switch. Fans activate on/off depending on the pressure in the a/c high pressure side (they do not activate as soon as the a/c is turned, they cycle on/off). The receiver drier was located under pass side light pod on early versions (think this moved on later models). There is a panel in engine bay which covers the receiver/drier and trinary switch.

Thanks for the input. The drier on mine is attached to the condensor and the trinity switch is on top of it so will have a look at that as well over the weekend.
I really need to get it gassed up first so I can run it and see just what happens
Thanks again
Chris
