Cooling System - Hoses
Discussion
Chaps
Unfortunately one of the hoses on my V6 has started to leak. For now the situation is under control thanks to RadSeal.
However, this is only a temporary fix. Need to replace hose for peace of mind. Have bought a flexible piece from Halfords which i'm hoping will do the job, but it struck me i could also fix a straight-forward replacement.
I'm assuming i could order the part from any ford dealership, problem is i don't know the part code. Have read and re-read the bible to no avail so far.
The hose in question is on the left-hand side of the engine as you sit in the driver's seat (ie, just below the accelerator cable mounting). It's not the fat hose leading direct from the radiator, but the thinner one above that which seems to move water out of the engine block near the bottom and back in towards the top. Have tried taking photo's to post on here but can't get camera into a suitable position.
Does anyone have any advice on the matter or know how i can get the part number. If no joy, guess i can always take the old one off, put on a felxible one as another temporary measure and take the old hose to a ford dealer. Ideally though, it would be nice to have the correct hose to hand when doing the job to save duplicating work (and risk i cock something else up !)
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
David

Excellent news - ACT came up trumps and posted the part to me - arrived end of last week.
Will therefore be attempting my first colling system job in the next few days.
this may be a daft question, but would you completely drain the whole system before removing the old hose, or can you get away with removing the hose (stand back as water gushes out !), replace hose, then top system up as normal ?
