Schutz-v-Waxoyl?

I was moaning about the impending job of brushing and Waxoyling the underside of the p&j.

A friend has a garage (business) and offered me the use of their ramp, which was nice. He then said "We've a few tins of Schutz underseal you can have for free if you like".

Maybe it's the Scottish blood in me but the word 'free' has the ability to banish all other ideas from my mind and without further ado the p&j was duly hoisted skyward and given a good squirting around the wishbones and arches.

I ran out of time (and Schutz) before I was able to turn my attention to the chassis itself so that's a job for another day but I got to thinking. It's all very well brushing off the flaky bits and Hammeriting and Waxoyling but all this does is cover the rust, not kill it. When I get round to finishing the job I was thinking of applying something like Jenolite or some other rust 'convertor' before applying the coating.

Can anyone see a flaw?

Schutz is body/chassis protectant. If you spray it onto a rusty surface it carries on festering away underneath.

I used black waxoyl as that does both jobs, in that it protects the chassis and does not go hard. Seems like a good solution and I am very happy with the results.
