Having a clear out before moving so lots of little bits on eBay. I put a paddock stand on, with collection only.

Just had a message from the winner saying can I pack it ready for collection by courier. Technically it is being collected but i now have to go and find a big box and make safe ffor transit. Not a big thing but it does annoy me! Potentially if I had offered package and posting it would have gone for more.

Monday minor rant over.

Blimey You said collection only, take a deep breath type " COLLECTION ONLY NO COURIER ", select size 72
font and bold and hit reply..if you are feeling a bit angy add !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to the end!

I've bought and sold loads on ebay collection only, the whole point is so you don't have to pish about packing and with couriers

I always put "CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY" in my ads and the great unwashed still expect me to post it

Personally I'd tell them that you don't have any packaging suitable for it so if they don't come and collect it you'll cancel the sale and relist it.

The seller is at fault as it would have been courteous to contact you first with their intentions before bidding.

I always list things as cash on collection only. I'm too lazy to fart about with paypal and scammers.

I'd cancel and relist. Its going to be a bugger to package.

How much was the 2nd highest bid? Can you just tell the winner "No, sorry" and sell it cash to the 2nd guy?

If you wanted pack it and wait for a courier to arrive to collect I would guess you would have listed it for postage.

Whilst it is technically being collected, it's not the same as someone turning up and taking it as is, you're going to have to find something suitable (else they'll blame any transit damage on insufficient packaging) and wait around for their courier to turn up, I'd cancel and re-list.

DO NOT let them send a courier.

If you do, you are half way to being scammed.

Either post it yourself, or cancel the sale.

Tin foil hat rubbish ... I’ve used couriers plenty of times arranged by me for eBay and gumtree without any issue as do thousands of others - what substantiates your claim of it being a scam??

In this case if you aren’t happy packing it for sending just tell the buyer, cancel the sale and relist - job jobbed

couriers normally work weekdays, when most work. So unless you are happy to sit about for the courier all day email the winner back asking when he will be driving over to collect it

I sold a boot cover for a 2004 Laguna estate. Collection only, went for £7. Guy then wants a courier, I tried to be as helpful as possible, but still got bad feedback for poor quality packing! Given that I never offered this and he didn't pay for it, and the size of the item, I honk bin liners and duct tape is more than adequate!

I used a courier to get an item I won on ebay collected from Leicester on Saturday. What are you talking about?

I often use a courier for collection only items on ebay. Though I do message the seller first to make sure they are okay with it.

Where Paypal is concerned it is the Vendor's responsibility to provide proof of delivery. By the Purchaser arranging the courier, the Vendor won't have the security available to them that is the whole point of using Paypal. The scam is that the purchaser will raise a claim for non-delivery and ultimately will be refunded by Paypal whilst still receiving the item. I'm sure that 99.9% of courier collections probably go through fine, but considering the number of daily Ebay transactions 0.1% will still be a significant number. As a Vendor on Ebay I will never accept Paypal for collection only items, no point taking the risk as there's nothing to gain.

I've a few things on eBay at the mo...main one is a brand new v v expensive mobile....unsurprisingly I put v clearly collection only...as have no desire to have a denied delivery, 'it wasn't in the box' ...or the 'it's not as advertised' scam.....or some other scheme I haven't yet heard of....
In three days I've had 12 morons / scammers ...asking whether I'd post... A couple offering more than retail....
A) I wasn't born yesterday..and:
B) Learn to read you f***wits.. .

Really don't know why I bother with eBay any more. .

I wouldn't entertain this for a second. If you could be arsed to package a large item and sit around waiting for it to be collected, you'd have listed it that way in the first place and opened up a much larger bidding audience and therefore probably sold it for more money.

I want to shift my original Apple Watch but you’ve hit the nail on the head as to why I can’t be bothered to sell it on the popular sites. Easiest job to part-ex it against a series 3 in PC World I think

Cancel and relist

Too many variables. His courier may damage it - you get blamed for not packing it correctly
Buyer claims its damaged - you get blamed for not packing it correctly

And you shouldn't be risking collection only without the Cash on Collection wording on it
You have NO protection with paypal if someone pays via them and collects the item - think I'm kidding ? Well look at the latest T&C's Paypal are messaging out to people this month
