Dear all
For Christmas day, I had originally figured on 2 meats, a Goose, and a rolled sirloin joint. However, the numbers of people at the table has fallen, owing to various reasons, and now there will be just 5 adults, and 2 kids (ages 2 and 7)
For obvious reasons, the goose is out the window, so I'm considering Duck breasts instead. I'm thinking of 4 or 5 duck breasts to go across the 7 of us, and a kilo rolled sirloin joint to go around.
What do others think? Am I in the right area, or perhaps a little on the light side?
I might add, Turkey and Ham is also being cooked but that will be mainly for the evening when the hoards of the great unwashed will arrive, and of course, boxxing day.
Cheers.

I'd say you're too much if anything.
5 Duck breasts and a kilo of sirloin between 5 adults (the kids at 2 and 7 would barely make dent in that tbh)
Think of a 200g Steak, a whole duck breast plus all the trimmings of an xmas lunch (not including any starters/desserts either) per person currently. Quite a lot!
Personally I'd up the sirloin weight a bit or go for a rib of beef and get it bang on rather than sodding about with individual duck breasts.
No one will complain with an amazingly roasted sirloin or rib of beef that they wished it had been augmented by a duck breast.

Why no goose? It will just about feed 5 + 2 kids but you won't have any left over. For Christmas day, I had originally figured on 2 meats, a Goose, and a rolled sirloin joint.
