Xbox one - format horizon 3 download time

I have purchased an XBox One with Forza Horizon 3 for my son’s 8th birthday (which is tomorrow). It arrived today from amazon prime (1 day delivery which took 4 days...) and it is only now that I have found out that the ‘bundle’ I purchased only includes forza horizon 3 as a download.

I am guessing it is a large game 40gb+ so does anyone know how long it will take to download? If I start it going tomorrow when he gets up will he be able to play it when he gets in from school?

It's entirely down to your internet speed bud, your download should make it in the 8 or so hours he's at school though

I average 30mb/s and downloaded titanfall 2(80gb) on my one x the other night and it took about 3 hours

Temporarily plug it into your router if you can. Mine downloads woefully slow over the WiFi.

Disconnect everything else from the WiFi whilst you're doing it, if you can't connect by cable. Use the network data on your phone, for instance, to dedicate all of your resources to the download.

There is a network test within the xbox one setting that will tell you your current download speed - home connections can suffer from contention, especially in the evening when everyone is at home using their broadband.

Kick it off as soon as possible, it might be a good idea to reboot your router before it starts to get a nice clean connection too.

Pleased to say it downloaded quite quickly and was ready for him when he got home from school. He absolutely lives it and now wants a steering wheel from Father Christmas
