Wipers Wipers and more wipers

Hi All,

Well im getting to grips with my Chimaera now having owned her for nearly a week..
One thing, which no doubt has been covered a few times, Ive been using her every day so have had the pleasure of British weather and using the windscreen wipers..

They seem to work fine. Intermittent, Full, all ok.

However they seem to park higher up the windscreen now.
Always the same place but higher... (im sure im not imagining things!)

Any thoughts gang??

Other than that, lots of fun. A totally different experience to my old Turbo Jap car. Driving the old hack today to stop it becoming part of the driveway..Chalk n Cheese doesnt come close!!!

It could be crud in the wiper park switch/wiper motor - best thing would be to give them a good clean and a shot of WD40. IIRC there's full cleaning instructions in the Bible.

Well Rain X no doubt will get a go to save trusting the tempremental stalks but cheers for the advice about the park switch...

Would be nice to get the wipers sitting back where they should..

Rain-X is great stuff anyway, and I'd recommend it to anyone (dodgy wipers or not).

It encourages one to drive faster due to (i) the fact that it works better with higher airflow; and (ii) it gives the 'Millennium Falcon' effect...

It's a cracking product that you put on your windscreen... water beads off, so you don't need to use the wipers as much.

Should be able to get it from Halfords, your local autofactors, or Leven sell it.

RainX also do an anti-fog stuff, and a washer bottle top-up thing to keep the screen clear.

You're not imagining things.. mine do this occaisionally.. I'll have to get the motor mechanism etc lubed up at some point, its just a bit of a git to get to.

Regarding RainX I uesd to use this myself but got sick of the "frosted glass" smear that you get immediately after each wiper stroke that takes about second to clear when its not raining much. I imagine it is excellent for motorbike visors etc, but I gave up on it on the cars. Each to their own of course

This sounds interesting, especially the anti fog, as de-misting is a pain on the side windows!

I've never found the anti-fog stuff to be much good. Maybe other have had better results?

I've had OK results, but you DO need to clean the inside of the screen first, and give it about double the application!

Far more effective for demisting are several LARGE bags of silica gel. I leave about 5 in the car on the parcel shelf and don't have a problem with misting at all... they turn red when they're finished, so slap them on the radiator until they dry out and go white.
