Double decker chocolate bars
Discussion
Bought a double decker in Boots as part of a 'meal deal' and found it's been squashed. Tastes fine but looks like someone has sat on it. A colleague mentioned he bought one two weeks ago from a totally different shop miles away and that was the same. It doesn't look like a recipe change because the chocolate is actually split with the nougat oozing out. What's going on?
I will hazard a guess
Cost Saving measure resulting in thinner card for the outer making it more likely to get squashed
The other one that may have a similar cause that annoys me is that the bags inside Kellogg cereals are now so thin they don't open neatly as easily as thicker ones did

What is it with Cadburys Dairy Milk these days as well? Rounded off corners? Less chocolate in the pack? Increased profits? Penny pinching motherf
kers.
Arent these made by Hershys nowadays? Just looked in our T bar and all the DD have been eaten, the 2 I had were squashed as well?

They've been owned by Kraft since mid '09, although since then Kraft rebranded to Mondelez International. That's why we now have numerous "Dairy Milk with ..." products as it's a way of Mondelez marketing it's other products such as Oreo, etc.Besides, it's not really even chocolate anymore. If you look at the ingredients list nowadays it's pretty much just re-hydrogenated vegetable fats, palm oil & vegetable oil bonded with some sugar syrup and a bare minimum amount of cocoa, plus whatever Mondelez owned product filling gets chucked in along with it. Of course that makes it much cheaper to produce.
A lot of products also now come with an allergy warning that wheat may be used as a replacement bonding agent in place of other ingredients too.
